Air rifle shooting in Monday

All as we noted to the scouts on Monday we have had to switch the next two weeks around due to the availability of air rifle shooting at drum hill.

Thus this week 18th Nov we will be at drum hill air rifle shooting. Scouts will need to be dropped off at drum hill main car park for a 7:00pm start and collected again at 9:00pm.

The scouts will also have to have a signed permission to shoot form to be able to shoot, this is a legal requirement as they are under 18.

Please find below the link the the permission to shoot PDF please either print complete and send with your scout on Monday night or complete and email back to Hilton.scouts@gmail.com prior to Monday.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday many thanks HSLT

New Committee members and new Chairperson needed.

Hello parents and guardians,

It’s great to see that all of the returning young people have settled back in to their Scouting and Guiding, and a warm welcome to the new young people who have joined to start their Scouting and Guiding journey.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Alister, and I am the Chairperson Scout and Guide Hut building Committee. September was the start of my 7th year as Chairperson, which will be my last. As such we are on the lookout for new people to join the committee and for somebody who would like to take over my role when I stand down next September.

Without a working committee we don’t have a working building and fundamentally the closure and loss of this great facility.

The role and working with the committee are immensely rewarding, making sure that our young people have the best facility possible to partake in their chosen Scouting and Guiding activities. Being able to give something back to the Hilton community and continuing to make Hilton a great place to live is a really great feeling.

The committee has full ownership of the building, its facilities, maintenance, finance, external hiring and working closely with our Scouting and Guiding sections. of time commitment it’s fairly low across the year at just 6 meetings & 1 AGM in 12 months. With the building extension completed last year the committee is in a very stable place and looking for new input as to what could be done next to make the place better still.

If this is something that you could be interested in please get in touch with myself at alister@poulter.com

Thank you for reading

Regards

Hill walking cancelled this weekend.

All

Unfortunately, the uptake for this weekend’s hillwalking trip to Edale has been limited, with only 2 Scouts interested or able to make it.

With this in mind, we have taken the decision to postpone this excursion until after Christmas (date to be confirmed).

Apologies for any inconvenience caused. If you or your scout is interested in hillwalking and would like recommendations on routes local or further afield I am always happy to advise!

Kind Regards,
Will

Night Hike

As per the program we will be doing a night hike tomorrow night from the Severn Wells Pub back to the hut.

The forecast is looking a little wet for tomorrow night so scout will need a waterproof, as well as a torch, drink, snack and strong walking shoes / boots / trainers.

If your scout will not be attending please can you let us know as early as possible so we are not waiting around for people who are not attending.

We will be meeting at the earlier time of 7:15 at the Severn Wells Pub Carpark, and should be back at the hut at 9:00pm.

We look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow night.

Tin Can lanterns

All tonight as per the program we will be making tin can lanterns.

We have some cans but if you have a spare couple of empty food tin cans that you could bring with you that would be great.

We look forward to seeing you tonight.

Monday Night Fire Lighting

All as per the program we will be at drum hill on Monday night taking part in an evening of fire lighting with no matches, no fire lighters, and no lighters.

We will be meeting at drum hill main car park at 7:15pm and the scouts will need collecting at 9:00pm

We will be outside all night so scouts need to be dressed for the weather and be wearing sturdy footware.
