This week, we’re swapping our usual Scout meeting for an evening of laser tag at Megazone in Derby! Expect fast-paced action, tactical teamwork, and plenty of friendly competition as our Scouts battle it out to see who comes out on top.

Bank transfer is preferred, using the same account you use to pay your regular subs. Please use your Scout’s name as the payment reference.

Please arrive promptly for the 7:05pm drop-off so we can get everyone together and ready for the action. Collection is at 8:30pm sharp.

16–18 October 2026 | Connect with Scouts around the world!

Ever wondered what Scouting looks like in another country? Fancy meeting Scouts from the other side of the world without leaving your home? This weekend is your chance!

From Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October, Scouts from across the globe are coming together for JOTA-JOTI Jamboree on the Air and Jamboree on the Internet the world’s largest digital and radio Scout event. 🌍📻💻

What is JOTA-JOTI?

JOTA-JOTI brings Scouts together through radio and the internet to share adventures, discover different cultures, make new friends and learn new skills.

This year’s theme is “A Peaceful and Inclusive World”, celebrating friendship, understanding and what makes our worldwide Scouting family so special.

🚀 How can you get involved?

The brilliant thing is that you don’t need to travel anywhere or have specialist equipment. You can take part from home with a computer, tablet or phone, with a parent or guardian helping you get started.

Here are a few things you could try:

• 🌐 Explore the Activity Hub – Discover interactive activities, games, workshops and challenges from Scouts around the world.
• 💬 Make international connections – Explore moderated online chat opportunities and discover what life is like for Scouts in other countries.
• 🎥 Tune in to JOTA-JOTI Live – Watch live shows, interviews, games and stories from the worldwide Scouting community.
• 🏆 Take on challenges – Complete activities, collect challenge codes and work towards digital badges.
• 📻 Discover the magic of radio – Find out how amateur radio operators communicate with Scouts across the world without using the internet.

There’s something for everyone, whether you’re a technology fan, love meeting new people or simply want to try something different!

Step 1: Head over to the official website at jotajoti.info⁠.

Step 2: Register or log in using a Scout.org account. If you’re under 13, a parent or guardian will need to register you and participate with you.

Step 3: Explore the Activity Hub and choose the activities that interest you.

Step 4: Check out the live shows, challenges and opportunities to connect with Scouts worldwide.

Step 5: Have fun, learn something new and share your experience with your Scout friends!

🔐 Stay safe online

As with any online activity, safety comes first. Younger Scouts should take part with a parent or guardian, use the event’s official and moderated platforms, and follow the JOTA-JOTI online safety guidance. Never share personal details such as your home address, phone number or passwords with people you meet online.

💜 Be part of something bigger!

JOTA-JOTI is a fantastic reminder that Scouting is much bigger than our own group. Wherever you are in the world, you’re part of a global family that shares the same spirit of adventure, friendship and making a difference.

We’ll be outside for the whole evening, so please make sure Scouts come dressed appropriately for the weather and wearing suitable footwear.

161st Hilton Scouts ⚜️

We’re looking forward to welcoming all our Scouts back on Monday as we kick off a brand‑new term. As mentioned in our previous update, everything is now in place for a smooth start including the full programme and all of our Summer Camp photos.

There are some brilliant moments in there smiles, challenges, campfires, and memories we hope will stay with the Scouts for years.

💷 Subs for the New Term

As we begin the new term, we do need to update parents regarding subs.

Due to ongoing increases in costs, termly subs will now be £50 per term, payable directly to the Scout bank account.

We understand this is a significant amount, so we are also offering a monthly standing order option:

• £12 per month
• Saves £6 per year compared to paying termly
• Set up by parents directly with their bank

If you choose to pay monthly, please drop us an email at hilton.scouts@gmail.com so we can note it on our records.

If you need the bank details, email the same address and we’ll send them across.

Please reference your child’s surname and initial with all payments.

We hope you had a great summer and hopefully all managed to have a break from work for a week or two.

Scouts will be starting back on Monday 14th September, over the next week we will be uploading our term program to the web site and I will add another blog when this is in place.

Well, that’s a wrap – Summer Camp 2026 is officially over, and what a camp it was. The leaders had an absolutely brilliant time, and that wouldn’t have been possible without our fantastic Scouts and the support of parents. They were a real credit to you all: polite, helpful, enthusiastic, and smiling from start to finish.

It’s been a fun‑packed few days of adventure, challenge, and memories that we hope will stay with the Scouts for many years to come. Camps like this are what Scouting is all about, and your young people made it something truly special.

We’ll be uploading more camp photos to the website over the next few days, so keep an eye on the blog Page for updates.

All the scouts made the lovely walk across the hills to Windermere and then enjoyed flame grilled burgers for tea. Camp fire is now about to commence.
