Dear Parents, Carers and Guide & Scout families,
To mark the end of the 2017/18 Guiding and Scouting year and the beginning of the 2018/19 year we are going to hold an autumn fayre and social gathering at the Hut. This is also an opportunity to tell you about the plans for the Hut extension.
As this is a social event (and not a fund raiser) there is no charge to come along or take part, instead we ask for donations to help cover the costs. This event is really intended as a social gathering, for the young people, families, leaders and other members of the Guide and Scout Groups to get together informally and in a more relaxed setting than the rush at the start/end of a weekly meeting.
This will be an opportunity to find out what the Guides and Scouts need to keep thriving and how you can help. Specifically, we need adults to get involved with the Hut Committee. The committee manages the hut and ensures the smooth, effective and legal running of the Groups and finances. It’s not a weekly commitment, being a committee member can be fitted in around a busy lifestyle and is a great way to contribute to the running of the Group. The current committee will explain the plans for the extension to the hut and why it is important. There are several vacancies on the committee and current members will be able to explain to those interested what is involved.
Refreshments will be available. The young people have been selling raffle tickets recently and this will be drawn as part of the afternoon.
To help us plan, please indicate via email (or other electronic method) to the relevant section leader how many will be attending by emailing Hilton.scouts@gmail.com by Tuesday 11th September (this is the first full week back after the holidays). Please note that as this is a family event children should not be left unaccompanied by adults.
If you are unable to make this event but would like to find out more please contact your child’s section leader or contact one of the existing committee. We need more parents on the committee to ensure the continued functioning of the Guide and Scout Groups in Hilton.
We look forward to seeing you there,
Hilton Hut Committee
